On the Northeast corner of Lily Manor stands a 200 year old, two story chicken coop... a neat rustic building, that was almost falling down. It was used for storage. I always had the hope of restoring it and using it as additional sleeping rooms here at the Manor.
While Lily Manor quiets over the winter and early spring months, during the past year, I decided to rip out the rot. My trades friends covered the building with a new metal roof, added electric, plumbing, studs, while our gang here at the manor (my husband Joe, Charles, our chef, and Warren, our everything else guy), painted the building decisive yellow and learned to hang bead board on all of the walls and ceiling. Once again, I tried my hand at tiling the bathrooms and as usual, had fun finding slightly used pieces of furniture and recovering them. We had saved the old fireplace surround from the kitchen renovation and used it as the headboard on the first floor bed. Hence, Lily's Roost was born! The second floor furniture is recycled from our Greek Island room in the mansion, so look for that room's transition in the house tour. The before and after pics are here for you to see! Let us know what you think.
